Once you’re approved, you’ll receive your DriveNow Member ID in the mail. Your ID is like your car key, It contains an NFC chip that unlocks any available DriveNow BMW. You may also want to register online for a ChargePoint pass in case you ever need to charge on-the-go. Registering at chargepoint.com allows you access to the largest network of public charging stations in the Bay Area.

Use the DriveNow app or website to locate the nearest DriveNow station and available car.

Use the DriveNow app or website to locate the nearest available DriveNow vehicle or station. DriveNow stations are close to Muni, BART, AC Transit and SF’s new bike-sharing racks. DriveNow i3s are parked on the street in select San Francisco neighborhoods such as the Mission, Potrero Hill, the Haight, Laurel Heights, Noe Valley, Bernal Heights and more coming soon. Your DriveNow ID unlocks any vehicle displaying green on the card reader. Then just follow instructions on the in-car screen, enter your PIN and get going. Have fun.

No limits

Keep your BMW for as little or as long as you like. Just $12 for the first 30 minutes of driving, and 32 cents for each additional minute.

When you park, it's just 13 cents a minute. A full 24-hour day is currently only $60 (normally $90), and never more than that. That's hard to beat and you get to drive a hill chomping electric BMW.

Whenever you're shopping, doing business or on an outing near a DriveNow station, just pull in to a DriveNow space and end your reservation for free parking. You may also keep your reservation running and pay less per minute when parked, but you will be responsible for parking fees.

While you're driving, you can check the energy level (State of Charge) status to see current estimated remaining mileage range.

Charging

If you want to go farther than the 80-120 miles a full charge can take you, charging is free at DriveNow stations or use the Chargepoint app or website to find chargers at your destination.

Register at chargepoint.com to receive a charging card unlocks hundreds of EV chargers in the SF Bay Area ChargePoint network. Don't forget to activate your ChargePoint card which you'll need to unlock the chargers. A full charge takes 3-4 hours. When you’re done with your reservation, just pull the BMW into any DriveNow station or park in any DriveNow designated “green zone". It doesn’t have be the station or street where you picked it up. If you got it at SFO, you can leave it in Union Square. No charge for one-way trips. Simply park, turn off the vehicle, select End Booking, grab your stuff, exit the car and hold your DriveNow ID against the card reader on the windshield and wait for the light to turn green. That locks the car and ends your reservation. Until next time. Note: When parking on the street make sure to obey all posted parking regulations and watch out for street cleaning. If you park within 24 hours of street cleaning, you may be liable for penalties if another member or fleet services does not move it in time and the car is ticketed.
